MembershipCode of Ethics

 

Each member shall know and understand that our Code of Ethics is more than a set of rules. It is a commitment to a high standard of practice in owning and breeding dogs.

 

This Code of Ethics is established for the members of the Mid-Atlantic Rat Terrier Club (heretofore known as MARTC) to promote ideals and principles necessary to maintain and protect the Rat Terrier breed. Integrity and honesty shall be what sets the precedence in all manners concerning MARTC and its members. Any member who violates this code shall be dealt with in accordance with MARTC's Constitution and By Laws. Nothing in this Code of Ethics should be construed to be in violation of the rules and regulations of the American Kennel Club.

 

Obligations:

1. Each member shall be familiar with and observant of the rules and regulations of the American Kennel Club, adhered to by MARTC.

 

2.Each member shall be familiar with the Rat Terrier Breed Standard as set forth and approved by American Kennel Club.

 

3.No member shall ever sell or donate dogs for auctions or raffles, to pet shops, to catalog houses, to brokers, or for resale purposes.

 

4.No member shall have surgery performed on any dog to alter cosmetic features to serve the purposes of exhibition.

 

5.Each member shall, at all times, display good sportsmanship and conduct. Whether at home, traveling, attending shows, or staying in paid or unpaid housing while attending shows, they will treat all present, including competitors and their acquaintances, all judges, all officials, and all spectators with respect and courtesy. This shall also encompass all forms of media, such as emails and any and all social outlets.

 

6.No member shall demonstrate a lack of integrity towards another member by making false, misleading, or contentious statements regarding said person, their dog(s), breeding practices, kennel or kennel name.

 

Each member must accept the responsibility to protect the interest of our club and its members as a whole, with that sole interest being to bring respect and credit to bear upon the breed of Rat Terrier.

 

As a participator enjoying full membership in MARTC, I agree to be bound by this Code of Ethics in its entirety.I understand that my knowing violation will result in action under the rules of the MARTC.
